Provider taxonomy codes
The ten-character codes that say what kind of provider an NPI belongs to. All 883 of them, with the official NUCC definitions, free and without an account.
This is the code in box 33b of a CMS-1500 and on every NPI record. It is a routine and entirely avoidable denial: a payer that credentialed you under one taxonomy will reject a claim submitted under another, and the rejection rarely says so in as many words.
Published by the National Uniform Claim Committee — not CMS — and free to use.
